Trail Riding Season is drawing near and it is time to announce this year’s 3rd Annual SJTR’s fund raiser event.  It has been requested by many that the annual event be moved from its traditional Memorial Day weekend to another date.  Therefore the event committee has now scheduled it for the weekend of June 7-8, 2014 (Sat. and Sun.)

This year’s event will be held again in ECHO BASIN, CO. near the same location as the last two years’ events.  The site should provide a great opportunity for camping for those who may want to do so.  Those needing driving instructions may feel free to call Jason Chapman at 970-749-5606 or Tim Barnes at 970-259-5899.  The day schedule will be as follows:

Saturday June 7, 2014  (DAY 1 RIDE)

  • 1.        Afternoon ride begins at 1:00pm and will finish up near 4:00pm starting from the camp site.  This would be described as an average skill ride with lots of help provided if you get stuck.

  • 2.       5:00pm the “all family” BBQ begins.  SJTR’s will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips and beverages.  We always enjoy having attendees bring any additional covered dishes and /or deserts to enhance the meal.  There have been some terrific additions to the meal in the past.

  • 3.       About sundown we expect to build the traditional “BSer’s campfire” and let the old trail riding stories begin.

Sunday June, 2014 (DAY 2 RIDE)

  • 1.        The days ride will begin at somewhere between 9:30am and 10:00am.  This will be a full day’s ride.

  • 2.       The ride will be intended to provide a highly varied range of opportunity of smooth trail, technical switch-backs and high altitude climbs.

  • 3.       On this days ride we will plan to take a lunch break somewhere along the trail.  It may be warm so plenty of water would be important.

  • 4.       The ride should end back at the campsite somewhere 4:00pm to give those traveling plenty of time to get home.

  • 5.       We look forward to enjoying some new trail sections that your SJTR’s trail team has been developing, with FS approval of course, since last year’s event.

We will be hoping for some great weather and excellent attendance for what has come to be an outstanding “start of summer” trail preservation fundraiser event.  We look forward to seeing many of our members and friends turning out on June 7 and 8.  See you then.

Best Regards,

Your SJTR Board of Directors
