July 26-Calico Trail above Dolores Colorado- Volunteers will rebuild and repair a boardwalk at the beginning of the Calico trail. Last year the project had to be cancelled because the supplies did not arrive on time.

Now the supplies are in hand and we hope to complete the project with volunteers from a variety of local trail groups. Sack lunches will be provided and after the work is complete we will gather for cold drinks and snacks. Bring a chair and socialize with everyone. We expect to be finished by 3 pm.

Please meet at the trail head at 8 am. Wear long pants, sturdy shoes, a hat, gloves, eye protection (sunglasses will do) and bring a minimum of 2 liters of water and your own snacks. Tools will be provided.

Specific project details are available by contacting Chris Bouton 970.882.6831 or Kathe Hayes, 970.385.1310. Please sign up so we have enough food for the group.

Directions to the trail head: From Dolores on Highway 145, travel east for 43 miles, and take the West Fork Road (FDR 535) turnoff, which is almost directly across from the Cayton Campground turnoff and approximately 6 miles north of Rico. Turn south on the Eagle Creek Road (FDR 471). The trail head is approximately one mile down this road.

There is no camping at the trail head but there is dispersed camping near the trail head.

Horses are not needed for this project.
